The Hilltop Community Food Pantry Programs offer Valparaiso residents the resources they may need. Our programs include Hilltop's Food Pantry, Mobile Food Pantry, Mission Kitchen, Bookmobile, and Hilltop's Porch Program.
The Hilltop Food Pantry partners with local community organizations to help us serve approximately 1,800 food insecure individuals per month, year-round.
It is clear from local data and national research that access to healthy food is a significant challenge for most low-income families. Hilltop’s mobile pantry will schedule delivery of fresh and non-perishable food supplies to children, their families, and senior citizens living in Valparaiso, making sure all families have access to healthy food.
Hilltop’s Mission Kitchen will have its Grand Opeing on Monday, September 16, 2024, and will be open on Mondays to serve free, hot meals to those in the Valparaiso community. The Mission Kitchen is located next to the Hilltop Food Pantry at 608 Union Street.
Let’s thrive together as we work together!
The focus of the Hilltop Bookmobile is to provide gently used books to children in the community who may not have access to those materials. Hilltop will take the Bookmobile out, along side our mobile pantry, to neighborhoods within the community. The Bookmobile offers books to children starting at 6 months to over 10 years of age!
Coats, hats, and gloves for children and adults are offered during the colder months. Hilltop’s pantry has a shelf on its front porch, where the community can find these items, including clothes. School backpacks with supplies and vouchers for new shoes are provided for neighborhood children going back to school in the fall.

Volunteers from churches and civic groups work with Valparaiso University Work-Study students to staff the Hilltop Food Pantry. Local businesses and community groups organize food collections to benefit Hilltop. Without the dedication and hard work of these priceless individuals, Valpo families in need would not receive the food they need. You will see lots of activity about the food pantry on Hilltop’s Facebook page here.
